A new article in the Pocono Record by John Warchol highlights the need for long term care insurance, particularly as it pertains to Pennsylvanians. Read It Here (New Window)
Long Term Care Insurance Is Mainstream
According to Ray Landis, advocacy manager of the AARP Pennsylvania state office in Philadelphia...
"Long-term care insurance has become a hot subject in the last few years. Ten to 15 years ago, it was a niche product. Today, it is much more mainstream."
The article then goes on to address the costs of a long term care incident in Pennsylvania as laid out in the 2008 Genworth cost of care survey. It becomes quite apparent that the premiums for a long term care policy are dwarfed by the possible monumental expenses of any long term care incident. It also does a great job of pointing out that a long term care event can happen at any time in life and that premiums are much less when purchased at a younger age.
